Pimples and blackheads are two signs of mild acne that can be treated with PanOxyl gel 10%, a topical antibacterial therapy. By stopping the spread of bacterial infections that aid in the development of acne lesions, PanOxyl 10 also aids in the prevention of new lesions. Benzoyl peroxide, an ingredient in PanOxyl gel 10%, penetrates the skin and stops Propionibacterium acnes, a bacterium that causes acne skin lesions but is normally present on the skin and causes no problems because it feeds on fatty acids in sebum secreted by sebaceous glands. Over production of sebum causes the pores of the skin to become blocked and this is how the pimples, whiteheads and blackheads of acne emerge.
